Charles in charge!

Charles in charge!

Free agent running back Jamaal Charles has signed a one year deal with the Denver Broncos in a move that will see him face off against his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs at least twice this year (subject to his health). The deal is worth up to $3.75 million.

The move is a good one for the Broncos, who are thin on the offensive side of the ball. Charles brings a dimension to the Broncos running game that should thrive behind a beefed up offensive line and a triple threat at running back with C.J Anderson and Devontae Booker now set to split carries with Charles.

Charles sent a video of himself doing extensive lateral movement to give the Broncos a sense of comfort that his knees can still hold up to the rigours of the NFL, given his age and injury history.

Personally, the Prawn would love to see both Victor Cruz signed as a slot receiver and reliable TE Gary Barnage added to help the Broncos QB, whoever that may be. Having Thomas, Sanders, Cruz and Barnage would give Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch four reliable targets coupled with a strong running game to help ease the inexperienced play callers transition into full time starter in the NFL.

The Broncos are a team in transition and have to compete with the likes of the Patriots, Steelers, Raiders and Chiefs to regain their rightful place atop the AFC perch.
